Cire Trudon is the world's oldest candlemaker still in operation, founded in 1643 by Claude Trudon in Paris. Initially a grocer and wax merchant, Trudon supplied candles to both domestic customers and the neighboring Saint-Roch parish. His son, Jacques Trudon, continued the family business and joined the royal court in 1687 as the apothecary and distiller to Queen Marie-Thérèse. In 1737, Jérôme Trudon, another heir, acquired the Royal Wax Manufacture, elevating the company to the official wax supplier for the French monarchy, including King Louis XIV and later Napoleon Bonaparte. The company was renowned for its high-quality white beeswax candles, which illuminated the halls of Versailles and France's grandest cathedrals
